Webbed How to Beat the Bowerbird
Launch the balloon, raid the Sky Bower, and send the bird packing.
The satin bowerbird is the only real boss in Webbed, and it is still a physics encounter more than a health-bar fight. You cannot skip the colonies. You can, however, walk into the nest under-prepared if you launch without understanding lasers and swing recoil. This page is the ending route.
Checklist before you launch
The moth will not send you up until:
- Ants have provided labour (mecha / crew from the anthill).
- Bees have patched the silk (queen tasks).
- Dung beetles have supplied fuel (the rolled ball).
- You have webbed the motor under the balloon neck and strapped a platform to the bag.
If a checkbox is missing, the walkthrough tells you which biome still owes you a favour. Deliver at least 20 pollen before launch if you want Princess Bee waiting at the pad; all 42 pollen is Prettiest Princess. Baby spiders and golden webs can wait until after credits.
The flight
Launching is a set piece. Hold on, enjoy the silk bag, and do not panic if Buddy dangles. You land in the Sky Bower, a high nest stuffed with blue and shiny objects — the bird’s taste, not yours. Explore. Your boyfriend is here. Together at Last unlocks when you reunite; talk, dance, then deal with the bird.
The fight
The bowerbird is large, fast, and offended. Tools that matter:
- Lasers — your damage and your knockback tool. Aim at the body when it dives; do not hold a swing you are about to laser-cut.
- Swing silk — reposition when the bird occupies the perch you wanted.
- Woven webs — optional cages and footholds if the nest floor is messy with hoarded junk.
- Recoil — a laser tap in mid-air can dodge a swoop.
There is no complex phase chart. Stay off spikes, keep the boyfriend in sight if the camera pulls, and keep firing. When the bird gives up, talk to it. Flew the Coup is the send-off achievement. The tone is closer to “go home, bird” than a loot explosion.
After the credits
Webbed lets you return to The Tree. Use that for:
- Remaining collectibles
- Sticker book gaps (Redback, ogre-faced, golden orb weaver)
- Floor is Lava attempts in open air
- 1000 Thread Count if you somehow have not woven a thousand strands
The bird will not kidnap anyone a second time. The game is single-player; the nest is now a playground.
If the balloon will not build
Common blockers: motor not actually under the neck, platform web attached to scenery instead of the bag, bee repairs still incomplete, or fuel ball left at the bottom of the dunghill. Revisit the moth’s journal page — it lists the missing piece in plain language. Allies recaps who owns which resource.
Why the bird did this
Male satin bowerbirds in real Queensland decorate bowers with blue and shiny loot. Webbed leans into that natural-history joke: your boyfriend sparkles, therefore he is nest furniture. The bowerbird character page expands the personality without repeating this fight guide.
If you came here from a search for “how to beat the bird in Webbed,” you are done after Flew the Coup. If you wanted 100%, jump to achievements next.
Loadout you actually need
You do not unlock a super silk for the nest. The same left-click zip, right-click bridge, and E laser from the tutorial are the boss kit. What changes is space: the bower is taller, shinier, and easier to overshoot. Park a woven foothold before you start shooting if the floor is cluttered. If the camera hunts the bird off-screen, stop firing and re-centre with a short swing instead of chasing into spikes. Console players should use the right stick in small arcs; flick shots waste the beam. After the talk-and-send-off, do not quit to menu before the achievement listener catches Flew the Coup — wait for the popup. Then drop back to The Tree and treat the remaining dark map nodes as a victory lap, not a new campaign.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Webbed questions.
Do I have to fight the bowerbird?
Yes, to finish the story and unlock Flew the Coup. It is a short laser encounter, not a raid boss.
Can I launch the balloon early?
Not until ants, bees, and dung beetles have each contributed. The moth's journal tracks the three parts.
Where is the Sky Bower on the map?
Above everything. You only reach it by balloon. See the map tool.
Does the boyfriend help in the fight?
He is the reason you are there. Keep him rescued, then shoot the bird yourself.
